Bastille Day blues

I have the Bastille Day blues.

It is our first time celebrating Bastille Day in France. The morning started well enough with coffee at a nearby village but we could not find the market we were looking for and we missed out on the cakes at the bakery.

It might be a Bank Holiday type affair in France but we were both working and my husband until well into the evening.

I fell asleep on the sofa and suddenly everyone was ready to go to the firework display and I struggled to wake up properly. They went without me and I can tell my husband is just trying to give me a relaxing evening but I feel left out now that I have come round a bit.

The good thing is that celebrations continue throughout the weekend and fireworks seem to be a major theme.

I have my children with me all the time. Sometimes that gets tiring. I try to be perfect but every human needs to take time out sometimes. I need to remember this now that I seem to have reached more clear-sightedness on our move to France.

There are good things to report too. My teen son cooked yesterday. We found a litter of kittens in the village. We located the lake and the library. There are potential job leads should I need them. I am reaching out and finding potential contacts and new friends.

It is great to have firm plans for the weekend including a vide grenier and a Middle Ages themed fete.

So the Bastille Day blues will pass and I feel better already. If in doubt, blog it out.

  1. I think we all get days like this, but sometimes it’s good to take a step back. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better. Thanks for linking up to #ThatFridayLinky
